So I’m strongly considering getting another plywood board (another $50) so I can have a full-width “flap.” ![]() Wider “folding” portion? I actually have my plywood cut for the above setup already, but I’m a little unhappy with how much “thinner” the flap portion is-I’ve done 2 people + a 85lb dog in the car before w/ a 0-build just folding down the seats and throwing a thin foam twin mattress on there, and I end up getting pushed to the sides and having my feet lower than my butt, which puts pressure on my back etc.Or hmmmm I could just slice it in half and add another set of hinges… I figure the additional length here is free-oh but it needs to clear the ceiling when you “fold” it up and down I’m realizing now…hmm I’ll need to measure that. Add another 8” to the “folding” portion, in addition to the 6” from above, to make a full size mattress length in total.Make the “fixed” portion 6” shorter so you have more access to storage at “the back passengers’ feet” area, per his update: ,.So I’m probably going to base my build largely on the SWERKy design: And I buy what the SWERKy (see below) guy says-after a while you get too lazy to keep transitioning between the two modes and you end up just leaving it in bed mode all the time anyway. Cute idea, but when you watch these folks show off these builds you can notice they’re always hunching as soon as they sit on the “couch” because there isn’t enough headroom-doesn’t seem comfortable to actually sit there for more than a bit. Leaning away from the somewhat-popular slatted design that slides together into a couch and slides apart into a bed.Probably using for occasional weekend or week-long camping, but ideally would love something that could last as a full-time #suvlife setup. So I’m strongly leaning full-size-mattress-type build, not one of those narrow-single builds that just run along one side (though some of those are neat and have 0 work to go from driving mode to sleeping mode!) ![]() Slightly open to revision, but that’s the vision. Looking to fit me, a partner, and an 85lb dog. ![]() Heya folks! I’m tryna build a sleeping platform for my Honda Element.
